This is where it begins
Homer: Welcome to the Internet my friend, How may I help you?Comic Book Guy: I’m interested in upgrading my 28.8 kb Internet connection to a 1.5Mb fibre optic T1 line. Will you be able to privide an IP router that’s compatible with my Token Ring Ethernet LAN configuration? (Pause)Homer: Can I have some money now?
It isn’t so much that I was putting off writing this first post, I just always hope that I’ll have some grand idea that is worth waiting for…of course, that grand idea has yet to come to fruition and in the meantime I’m busy procrastinating and rambling. Also, my name is Katharine. I am a second year student, in the middle of my 8th, 9th, and 10th courses of the program. One fine day I’ll be working in an academic library teaching America’s young minds how to be better thinkers and researchers…or simply finding a last-minute full text article for the term paper that is due at the top of the hour.
In the meantime I’m a graduate assistant at Dominican’s Crown Library, as well as do some administrative work for a few non-profits in the loop. I’d worked for the University of Illinois agriculture library for 4 years as an undergrad, as well as had an internship at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (a Smithsonian Institution in New York).
In the library world I’m constantly thinking about reference, marketing, usability, instruction, and lately government documents (eep!).
I’ll see you tomorrow, friends.
You stay classy 768.
