Job Description

I wear many hats. I work primarily in Youth Services, but I also do a few shifts at Adult Reference and Readers Advisory.

Interests

Favorite TV Shows

The dearly departed “Arrested Development, ” “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, ” “Law and Order: SVU, ” “Glee, ” (at least so far), and….I’m man enough to admit it….”American Idol”!

Favorite Movies

“Harold and Maude, ” “Brokeback Mountain.” Truth be told, I’m not that much of a cinema guy.

Favorite Activities

Various paper crafts, including making paper and origami. Cooking. Learning. Playing with my dog, Henry.

Favorite Books

“The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster, “Tales of the City” series by Armistead Maupin, “Aztec” by Gary Jennings, “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” by Sherman Alexie, pretty much anything by Mark Twain, most everything by Michael Crichton, and everything I’ve read so far by James Rollins (fast pacing is important to me!).

  • Ugh. I don’t honestly know how I’d handle a situation like that. I’d be tempted to get up and leave, or at least make some kind of ”I can wait until you’re finished”-type remark. Of course, if I needed/wanted the job…well, you gotta play the game. But like you say, since I wouldn’t want that job ANYWAY…

  • I was interviewed by a panel a few months ago and the director took out his phone DURING THE INTERVIEW and started texting. After a few minutes of that he got up and left, came back, and continued to text. If that was an interview ”strategy” it didn’t work very well. Why would I want to work in a place where professionalism and courtesy aren’t valued?
