Belinda, I completely agree with protecting the privacy of the patrons using the OPACS. This last week Facebook made a lot of changes to protect the privacy of their users.

I liked your comments about making websites accessible to people with disabilities. I find it humorous that I tried the voice activation on the ReCaptcha because I couldn't read what they wanted me to type, and the phrase was ridiculously confusing. We have a ways to go on making the web for everyone.

This is incredibly important for designers and librarians who build digital resources. Can that spiffy Flash site or image based collection be shared with adaptive tech? Thanks for the link to the video.

This is one of the most important things we will be teaching as librarians now and in the future. Your post serves as a well-researched and clearly articulated "course" outline for teaching privacy issues.

The video incident reminded me of my daughter's mishap. She had posted a video of her and her sister on her PRIVATE MySpace page, and while she was looking for a friends MySpace, she clicked on a random persons name and lo and behold her video was on his page. This really freaked her out and I told her to go and pull the feed. We are still not sure if this was a glitch or not, but again it gave me a great teaching tool, to again warn them about safety, privacy, and other issues about the internet.
